Davor Sučić / Sejo Sexon

Biography

Davor Sučić, better known as Sejo Sexon (Sarajevo, June 7, 1961), is a Bosnian-Herzegovinian rock musician, composer, lyricist, music producer, actor, and director.

He is best known as the co-founder, leader, and creative force behind the iconic Sarajevo band Zabranjeno pušenje, of which he has been a key member since its founding in 1980. He was one of the main initiators of the New Primitivism movement in Sarajevo, which left a significant mark on the cultural scene of the 1980s.

Early Years and Career

He started playing guitar at the age of twelve. In 1978, he founded the band Pseudo Blues Band with Nenad Janković (Dr. Nele Karajlić), and they were soon joined by Zenit Đozić. In 1980, this evolved into Zabranjeno pušenje.

In addition to music, Sejo Sexon was also an active member of the legendary comedy series Top lista nadrealista.

Although he graduated from the Second Sarajevo Gymnasium and completed his studies at the Faculty of Medicine in Sarajevo, where he initially aspired to become a psychiatrist, music ultimately took precedence. In 2009, he graduated in History from the Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb with a thesis titled: The Conflict Between Youth Subculture and Yugoslav Official Politics in the 1980s.

Other Activities

For more than fifteen years, he has written columns and short stories for the Croatian daily newspaper Glas Slavonije. He works as a music producer on various projects and occasionally engages in acting and directing.

Personal Life

In 2003, he married Croatian photographer Saša Midžor, with whom he has a son, Vito (2004), and a daughter, Nora (2010). From his first marriage, he has a daughter, Tesa (1999), who lives in Sarajevo.
