Dejan Savić

Biography

Dejan Savić (Belgrade, 1975) is one of the most significant and decorated figures in the history of world water polo – first as an elite player, and later as a head coach who wrote golden pages in Serbian sports history.

He began his playing career at Partizan and also played for some of Europe’s most prestigious clubs, including Barceloneta, Pro Recco, Florence, Sintez, and Crvena zvezda. For the national team, he played a record 444 matches and scored 405 goals, winning an Olympic silver, two bronze medals, and numerous medals at World and European Championships.

As a coach and head of the Serbian national team (2012–2022), Dejan Savić achieved results that place him among the greatest coaches in water polo history. Under his leadership, Serbia won two Olympic golds (Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020), a World Championship gold, three consecutive European titles, and six World League trophies. Between 2015 and 2016, the team held all four major water polo titles simultaneously – an unprecedented feat.

Known for his strong charisma, unique rapport with players, and leadership mentality, Dejan Savić is regarded today as an exceptional sports strategist and motivator. His experience, leadership philosophy, and understanding of team success make him an extremely valuable speaker and panelist at the CIM Forum, where he connects sporting excellence with leadership, responsibility, and peak performance.
