Dobrosav Bob Živković — a prominent Serbian illustrator born on May 7, 1962, in Pirot. He graduated from the Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade and has marked the contemporary domestic and international illustration scene with his authentic, distinctive style.

Creative Work

He has illustrated over 100 titles for Kreativni centar, translated into more than 40 languages. He illustrated Kreativni centar’s first picture book (Cat) and the entire Žapče series, as well as popular collections Da pukneš od smeha and Bez dlake na jeziku (including bestsellers National Park Serbia and Sex for Beginners). He also worked on editions of Serbian Folk Tales and Serbian Folk Stories from the Pustolovine series.

Professional Experience

His first illustrations were published in the magazines Student, Vidici, and Tik-tak. He was the illustrator for the cult series Znak Sagite and the science-fiction almanac Monolit. He worked for many years as art director at the Sači & Sači studio in Belgrade and illustrated pieces for Veliko dvorište, Dnevni telegraf, Evropljanin, Politikin Zabavnik, and more than 200 books for various publishers.

Awards and Recognition

He is the recipient of numerous awards and honors: two Golden Pens, five Neven awards for best illustrated children’s books, the Zmajeve Dečje Igre award (2005) for outstanding contribution to children’s literature, a special recognition at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair, and three Lazar Komarčić awards (1988) for works in the field of fantasy. He won the Neven award five times (1993, 1994, 1995, 2000, 2004).
